I’m choosing paper 2, or the Discourse essay as my significant writing project. Of the three papers I’ve written for this class, this is the one I’m most proud of. I feel as though I improved my paper between the first and final draft, which isn’t something I can say about my other papers. The purpose of this project was to write a paper in which we develop an opinion on Dominant Discourse acquisition and how this could negatively impact someone. We were expected to use and quote ideas from James Gee, June Jordan, and Lisa Delpit’s works to support or provide examples for our claim. A big part of the project was trying to add onto, limit, or refute a claim from Gee, Jordan, or Delpit.
